It’s currently unknown if the upcoming game, simply titled Fable, will be a sequel to the original trilogy or a whole new story. The last main Fable game released was Fable III, which same out in 2010 for the Xbox 360.

The franchise was originally developed by Lionhead Studios, who had been working on a spin-off called Fable Legends, before Microsoft cancelled the project and closed down the studio in 2016.

A digital CCG based on the Fable franchise, titled Fable Fortune, was co-developerd by Flaming Fowl Studios and Medatonic, and released in 2018. Severs for the game were shut down earlier this year.

Fable wasn’t the only game to receive an announcement during the showcase as many other first and third party titles were announced. 343 Industries delivered the first gameplay footage for Halo Infinite, which explored the campaign and the new features incorporated.
